Joanne Rowlands joined bp’s upstream organisation in 2011, where she managed the delivery of complex infrastructure projects and, latterly corporate transformation programmes. Before bp Jo held programme and change management roles in both Police Scotland (formerly Grampian Police) and British Airways and, as such brought with her a wealth of cross-industry project management experience and best practice. Jo is a chartered project professional (ChPP) and holds an MBA from The Open University.
In Jo’s current role at bp, she facilitates integration across bp’s business activities in the UK and continental Europe and supports the SVP Europe in leading bp’s transition to an integrated energy company. Jo is passionate about corporate responsibility, social investment and the important role responsible business plays in the community. In 2022 she led bp’s Ukraine humanitarian aid response and shaped bp’s social investment programme in response to the cost-of-living crisis in the UK. In joining Business in the Community’s (BITC) Cost-of-Living Taskforce, Jo looks forward to learning from others and collaborating to deliver impactful and meaningful support to those most in need.

Business in the Community’s (BITC) Cost-of-Living Taskforce brings together a group of the most influential and passionate senior executives, committed to delivering the vision that the UK business community demonstrates a world-leading response to the cost-of-living crisis. Additionally, supporting those most disadvantaged and vulnerable in society and using the crisis as a catalyst to make the UK fairer and greener together.
This taskforce of diverse leaders will shape the outputs for the campaign and innovate together to drive action across business at pace and scale.
