Wed, 27 November @ 10:00 – 11:30
This is an online event.
Audience
Our Peer Learning Forums (PLF) are now open to all Business in the Community (BITC) members who have advisory in their membership package – hosted by our issue experts, there are 20 forums a year, covering a range of responsible business areas and enabling our members to discuss challenges, solutions and ideas.
About the event
COP29, hosted by Azerbaijan from November 11–22 emphasises critical climate finance and emissions targets. The conference’s main goals are threefold:
– limiting global warming to below 1.5°C
– boosting international climate action and ambition
– fostering inclusivity, especially for vulnerable populations affected by climate change
The need for a New Collective Quantified Goal (NCQG) for climate finance is central, with aims to expand funding commitments beyond the current $100 billion annual floor to better address the needs of developing countries.
High-profile events on climate finance and investment (November 14) and a global summit on methane reduction and energy storage as well as gender equality, biodiversity, indigenous rights, and urban climate resilience will all point towards further accelerated climate action.
But what will the implications of these high-level policy negotiations mean for responsible business? Join us as we run through the outcomes of the event and what they will mean for our members.
