Dr David Langley is Chief Transformation Officer at Cardiff University where he leads an organisational wide cultural and business change programme aimed at delivering a new and ambitious growth strategy. He is also a member of the University Executive Board.

His career has been varied and David has held leadership positions at University College of Osteopathy, New Model Institute for Technology and Engineering (NMITE), Bristol University, Imperial College London and previously at Cardiff University as a Professor of Practice. In addition, he has been Deputy Chief Scientific Advisor for the Welsh Government and has held roles in the private sector and NHS. He has a PhD in neuropharmacology from University College London and undertook research on brain injury.

He grew up in East London and firmly believes in the life changing power of education and the positive impact universities have on place. He is a strong advocate for innovation in education, employability, skills and of EDI.

David was Chief of External Engagement at NMITE and worked closely in partnership with a range of businesses, community groups, NHS, education providers and organisations including Business in the Community.  He has chosen to join the Wales Leadership Board to promote joined up and tangible collaboration across sectors for the benefit of the people of Wales, to represent one of the largest employers and universities in the region and to ensure the voice of the learner is heard.

He has been married to his husband Alex since 2010.
