May
21
Tue, 21 May @ 09:30 – 12:00
Join Business in the Community (BITC) and OVO to explore the role of business and government in empowering employee climate action at work and home.
This is an in-person event.
Audience
Attendance is open to members and non members of Business in the Community (BITC).
About the event
During the event, participants will:
- Hear how OVO is investing in current and future workforce development, to achieve net zero by 2035 through its Green Skills Fund and employee benefits.
- Meet people on the frontline of developing skills needed to deliver the UK’s ambitious climate targets and supporting communities to upskill and reskill themselves.
- Explore the role businesses, government and educators can play, the opportunities to collaborate to mobilise employees behind a rapid, just transition to net zero and climate resilience. Along with take away ideas that you can implement in your organisation.
Background
The impacts of climate change are increasing rapidly. The UK experienced the wettest winter for 130 years, with February being the hottest month on record and eight named storms causing havoc for businesses and communities between July and December 2023. We must act now to minimise these impacts. But we currently lack the knowledge and skills to deliver the pathways to accelerate the UK’s progress to net zero and climate resilience.
