The Age at Work End of Programme Report - Business in the Community

The Age at Work End of Programme Report

This report explores the impact of Business in the Community’s Age at Work programme across the three nations.

For five years The Age at Work Programme has directly addressed the challenges and opportunities for both people over 50 and employers, in an ageing society.

Now completed after five years, the programme was delivered by partners Business in the Community (BITC) Northern Ireland, Scotland and Cymru, and Age NI, Age Scotland and Age Cymru, with funding from the National Lottery Community Fund.

We have summarised the impacts from the programme across the three nations in the Age at Work End of Programme Impact report.

    The programme has:

    • supported older workers and mature candidates to seek and stay in employment, helping them to earn sufficient income, stay connected and have a fuller working life.
    • encouraged and supported businesses to use more age-inclusive policies and practices in recruiting, retaining, and retraining older workers.
    • Raised awareness of the impact of an ageing workforce and the need for an age-inclusive agenda in government, business, and wider society.
