Opening Doors Signatories

Opening Doors Signatories

Why your commitment matters

By becoming an Opening Doors employer, you’ve taken a stand for fairness and opportunity. Right now, more than 3 million people in the UK want to work but face barriers that lock them out of the jobs market. At the same time, businesses are struggling to fill record numbers of vacancies.

Your commitment shows that recruitment can be done differently, opening doors to untapped talent, bringing fresh perspectives, and helping to create a fairer and more resilient workforce. As part of a growing movement of employers, you are helping to break down barriers, widen access to opportunity, and transform the way recruitment works across the UK.

What to do now that you’re an Opening Doors signatory

  • Share your commitment internally with employees via intranets, newsletters, or noticeboards.
  • Communicate externally by updating your website, press releases, and social media.
  • Use the Opening Doors signatory logo to demonstrate your commitment (following the usage guidelines).
  • Continue embedding inclusive recruitment practices in your organisation.

Frequently asked questions (FAQs)

The Opening Doors logo can be used alongside your communications but must not be altered, incorporated into your own logo, or used in a way that suggests endorsement of products or services.

You can:

  • Share the news internally with your employees.
  • Communicate externally on your website, in press releases, and on social media.
  • Use the Opening Doors signatory logo (in line with the usage guidelines).

As a signatory, you commit to taking at least three actions from the Opening Doors framework. These could include making job adverts more inclusive, reviewing shortlisting practices, or offering fairer routes into employment.

Being a signatory means your organisation has committed to making changes in your recruitment process to remove barriers and open jobs to diverse and untapped talent.

If your organisation withdraws or is removed from the campaign, you must stop using the Opening Doors logo immediately and remove references to being a signatory from your materials.

Signatories have access to a communications pack, approved employer recognition logos, and guidance on how to promote their commitment. You can download these directly from the Opening Doors Signatories page under the ‘Resources for Signatories’ section.

For any questions about communications or the use of the logo, please email openingdoors@bitc.org.uk.

Over 3 million people in the UK want to work but face barriers to entering the job market. At the same time, employers struggle to fill vacancies.
